Below is a breakdown and a guide for everything parents need to know about our junior holidays. Should you have any questions beyond these please reach out!
Arrivals and Departures
Arrivals between 3 and 5pm Sunday.
Departures between 10am & 11am on Saturday.
If you need to arrive or depart outside these times, please inform the office and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRINGSuggested Equipment
Riding hat – approved to BHS hat regulation guidelines for 2017 v2
Body Protector conforming to BETA standard (Essential if doing Cross Country)
Jodphurs or trousers suitable for riding. 2 pairs are needed, one kept for final day)
Riding boots. (These must have a clearly defined heel, NOT Wellingtons or trainers – or shoes with a wedge or flat sole)
Casual wear for evenings
Trainers or gymshoes
Toiletries – toothbrush, paste, flannel, face towel, bath towel, shampoo, hairbrush, hairties
Wet weather clothing
All bedding is provided, so no need to pack your duvet!
Shirt and Tie (for end of week ‘Show Day’ finale)
Wellington Sweatshirt and/or T-shirt
Pocket money to cover sweets, gifts, etc. is required. £30 per week should be sufficient to cover this. Pocket Money should be handed in on arrival for safe keeping and your child will be given time to spend their money on a daily basis. We request the money is given in small denominations. Excursion travel & entry costs are included in the holiday price but not sweets etc.
Where appropriate, please provide in writing any information concerning medical conditions and medication currently being administered. Any pills or medicines must be handed to the Junior Course Supervisor on arrival together with precise details of administration. Please note we are unable to give medicine such as Calpol without written consent from the parent/guardians. If you feel your child may need to take medicine during their time with us please bring this with you for their holiday.
We would be grateful if you would refrain from telephoning your child, as experience has shown that children settle in better if undisturbed by personal calls, especially in the first few days. It is also difficult to get children to the telephone during their activities which are held in different parts of the Estate. Our Holidays Co-ordinator is available if you wish to ask about your child or check on their safe arrival. Normal office hours are 9.00 am – 5.00 p.m. Office numbers is 01189 326308. The Cabin Supervisors also carry a mobile phone at all times out of office hours, but this number is for EMERGENCIES ONLY PLEASE: 07826 708081
Lost / left property can be posted on at owners expense. Please ensure ALL ITEMS ARE CLEARLY MARKED WITH OWNER’S NAME. We can not be responsible for lost clothing or equipment. Mobile phones and computer games are not recommended as they are easily damaged or lost.
Un-named lost property will be listed on the Lost Property page of this website, and we will happily return any items to you at your own expense. All lost property will be donated to charity at the end of each year if not collected.
Wellington Riding reserves the right to cancel bookings for any reason beyond our control, in which case all monies paid will be refunded. In the event that guests have to cancel, we require four weeks notice in writing to transfer the booking to a more suitable time during the same year at a cost of £25. Refunds are not made.
If the event that guests have to cancel outside 40 days, and they are unable to transfer to a more suitable time, they will forfeit their £100 deposit. In the event that guests have to cancel within 40 days of the start date of their holiday, fees are due in full and no money will be returned.
Cancellation & Curtailment Insurance
If you decide to take out fully comprehensive activity holiday insurance it should cover horse riding and non-competitive jumping. We are not authorised to advise or recommend in respect of insurance, however, we can advise that you must be satisfied that, should your child/children become unwell due to illness or injury leading up to the holiday, that you are able to claim loss of fees from your insurer as all fees paid are non-refundable. The same would apply for curtailment. Should you make the decision not to have insurance you must understand that should anything happen before or during the holiday all fees paid are non-refundable. Wellington Riding is fully covered for Public Liability.
Discipline and Responsibility
Living alongside and mixing with other children is a valuable part of the holiday experience and we try to ensure that everyone is included. Every child wishes to enjoy their holiday and we keep a close check on teasing, bullying or any other anti-social behaviour that may spoil an individual’s enjoyment. Our experience over the years means this is rarely a problem, but please tell your children that they must speak to an Instructor or Supervisor if this should occur. If your child informs you of a problem, please contact the office so that we can take immediate steps to remedy the situation. When necessary, we will be firm with children who are affecting the enjoyment of others. If problem behaviour is persistent or serious we will contact the parent or guardian. We reserve the right to send any child home immediately at parent/guardians expense and to charge for any costs incurred. No refunds will be made for any children sent home for behavioural reasons.
